In particular, this concerns two important projects focused on monitoring the state of the environment and analyzing the ecological burden on the region. One of them relates to the assessment of environmental threats in the area. As part of the pilot project «Identification and Prioritization of Environmental Burden in the Dnipropetrovsk Region», which was launched last year, laboratory research has already been conducted in critical zones. Based on the results obtained, two locations were identified, for which further measures have been developed to minimize environmental risks.
«We are grateful to our Czech partners for their comprehensive support of Ukraine and the Dnipropetrovsk region. It is especially important now to pay attention to environmental challenges that have intensified due to the Russian invasion. Through joint efforts, we are working to address these issues and are confident in continued effective cooperation», — said Liliia Miahka, Deputy Head of the Dnipropetrovsk RMA.
The second project aims to expand the environmental monitoring system in the region and to support the activities of the Environmental Monitoring Center. This initiative will continue at least until 2025 and includes equipment upgrades and sustainable operation of the team.
The Czech partners not only provide technical support but also assist in training Ukrainian specialists according to European standards.
«We involve not only our experts to carry out research but also share experience with Ukrainian specialists. Whenever possible, we will consider new locations, take new samples, and analyze new risks», — emphasized Jan Pejřil.
The cooperation between the Dnipropetrovsk RMA and the Czech Development Agency is strategically important for improving the environmental situation in the region. Work in these areas will continue next year as well.
