Recent reforming of land management and ownership in Ukraine brings many discussions and problems. One of them is also massive buy up of lands in Ukrainian regions by agrarian concerns, which leads to intensive agricultural land management with many potential environmental risks. Our ukrainian partners therefore prepared a public seminar on this process recently taking place in Ukraine. The crucial topics discussed were:
– What are the intentions of big agroconcerns? What are the follow ups after land purchase?
– “Dark” and “light” aspects of intensive agriculture and activities of agroconcerns in Ukraine and other European countries
– Is massive land acquisition by big agriculture companies only a phenomenon of Ukraine?
The lecture was held by Mykhailo Amosov, EcoAction´s expert on land reform and land management in Kiev on 31st August.
